The testes are two glandular organs, which produce sperms and semen. They are suspended in the scrotum by the spermatic cords. Testes are suspended outside the abdominal cavity in the scrotum because the internal body temperature is too high for the sperms to survive. The normal temperature in the scrotum is 2-3°F below normal body temperature. Prolonged or repeated exposure to heat damages sperm count and sperm motility. In all quality of semen gets affected due to heat.
According to ayurveda the constitution of testes is explained as " Maamsa asruk kapha medaha prasaadaadwavrushanaha" which means The two testes are made up of muscles, blood , fat and their derivatives .Kapha is dominant dosha of testes. Kapha dosha helps in production of healthy sperms with good motility. Increased heat reduces kapha . Reduction in kapha affects the production of healthy sperms. Because of this, it has been advised by Ayurveda acharyas to avoid exposure of testes to heat. It has been recommended to wear cold loose cloth over groin and testes during steam bath and wash testes with cold water after a long hot water bath. This process help to protect the dominant dosha (kapha) of testes and help in normal production of sperms.
For this reason stay away from wearing tight briefs, tight pants and avoid hot tubs and saunas to improve sperm count and sperm motility

Erectile Dysfunction and Diabetes - The Surprising Link!
Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is often symptomatic of another illness or condition, which in itself needs to be diagnosed and treated as a matter of priority. Some of these conditions, if left undiagnosed and untreated could even be life threatening. Diabetes is one such condition.
The actual cause of erectile dysfunction through Diabetes is quite complex and relates to various changes that take place in the body over a period of time. These changes are in relation to the functions of nerves, blood vessels, and muscles and occur as a direct result of high blood sugar.
In order to gain an erection, men need good healthy blood vessels and nerves, so if these have been damaged through the diabetes, it becomes more likely that erectile dysfunction will appear. It doesn't matter if the man's testosterone levels are high, or even if he has a strong libido, harm to the blood vessels and nerves that feed the blood supply the penis will result in erectile dysfunction.
Diabetic men of 50 years of age and over have a 60% chance of acquiring ED. For diabetic men of 70 and over, this statistic jumps to a staggering 95%. It is further believed that men who suffer from diabetes develop erectile dysfunction some 10 to 15 years earlier than men who are not diabetics.
There are a number of other factors that can have a bearing on ED for diabetic men, and just like their non-diabetic counterparts, these factors include: obesity; smoking; life style (lack of appropriate exercise); surgery, and medications including antidepressants and some hypertension medications.
There are also a number of psychological factors (again shared in common with non-diabetics) than can also have a bearing on the causes of ED, and these include: depression; low self esteem; anxiety, and paranoia regarding poor sexual performance.
If you are a man suffering from ED brought about by Diabetes, you should be aware that the damage being done to your blood vessels and nerves can effect your heart and other organs as well as your penis.
Fortunately, there are supplements on the market that will minimize this damage. Along with lifestyle changes, these changes can have a profound effect on your erectile dysfunction, your overall health, and your quality of life.

Honey - A beauty treatment at home
Ayurvedic texts describe medicinal properties of honey as follows .
“Vaatalam guru sheetam cha raktapittakaphapaham |
Sandhatru cchedanam ruksham kashayam madhuram madhu ||”
Honey aggravates vata. But alleviates pitta, rakta and kapha. According to ayurveda principles acne and pimples are caused by vitiation of rakta, pitta and kapha. As honey balances vitiated rakta, pitta and kapha, its external application helps to reduce acne and pimples. In the above verse it has been said that honey is an excellent promoter of healing process (sandhatru).Inflamed acne and pimples get healed very quickly when honey is applied externally. Its antimicrobial properties help to accelerate healing process.
As honey exhibits astringent (kashayam) properties its external application helps to tighten the pores created by acne and pimple. Its heaviness (guru) and cold (sheeta) properties help to increase the moisture level of skin. This helps to prevent wrinkles. Honey helps to increase moistness of dry skin.
Honey has another excellent property of drying extra oil secretion. It scrapes the excess oil secretion without stripping the natural oil of skin. Persons with Oily skin can take advantage of this quality of honey.
Honey face pack: Apply two tea spoons of honey all over face and neck and leave it for 20 minutes. Wash this off with cold water. This increases glow and fairness of skin.

Super Foods For Erectile Dysfunction
There are many underlying physical and psychological causes of erectile dysfunction. Reduced blood flows to the penis and nerve damage are two of the most common physical causes. Underlying conditions associated with erectile dysfunction include vascular disease, diabetes, drugs, hormone disorders, neurological disorders, pelvic trauma, surgery, radiation therapy, a venous leak or psychological conditions.
A lack of zinc can interfere with the maturation of the reproductive organs, as well as interfere with reproductive functions and processes. It can contribute to impotence. Chronic diarrhea, poor appetite, and thus significant weight loss of the unhealthy and undesirable sort, hair loss, and the slow healing of wounds are all associated with zinc deficiencies. So, too, are open sores on the skin and in the mouth, strange tastes in the mouth, and inefficient or reduced mental functioning, especially cognitive processes. So be sure to include lots of zinc-rich foods in your diet, including red meat, fortified cereals, oysters, almonds, peanuts, chickpeas, soy foods, and dairy products.
Zinc is vital to many internal processes and supports immune function, reproduction, and the nervous system.
It’s also imperative to include other vitamins and minerals in your diet, as they may also help improve erectile dysfunction. Be sure to eat whole, fresh, unrefined, and unprocessed foods. Include fruits (lots of richly pigmented berries to support vascular integrity), vegetables, whole grains, soy, beans, seeds, nuts, olive oil, and cold-water fish (salmon, tuna, sardines, halibut, and mackerel. Avoid sugar, dairy products, refined foods, fried foods, junk foods, and caffeine. If you’ve found in the past that you’re sensitive to certain kinds of foods, eliminate them from your diet, ass it could be a contributing factor to erectile dysfunction. Also be sure to drink plenty of water. A good rule of thumb is to drink 50% of your body weight in ounces of water daily (e.g., if you weigh 150 lbs, drink 75 oz of water daily). Try to avoid alcohol and smoking, as they can have a negative impact on erectile function.
Erectile dysfunction may be chronic or recurring, or it may occur as a single isolated incident. In the past, it was assumed that impotence was primarily a psychological problem, but many therapists and physicians today believe the majority of all cases of impotence have some physical basis.

Oral sex raises risk of herpes infection
The first clinical study to document risk of acquiring herpes simplex virus type 1 infection based on sexual activity has linked oral sex and vaginal intercourse with a demonstrably higher rate of infection, particularly in young women, researchers from the University of Pittsburgh report in the February issue of Sexually Transmitted Diseases, the journal of the American Sexually Transmitted Diseases Association.
Genital herpes is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases in the United States. Nationwide, at least 45 million people ages 12 and older - or one out of five adolescents and adults - have had a genital herpes infection. Between the late 1970s and the early 1990s, the number of Americans with genital herpes infection increased by 30 percent, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. While there is no cure, antiviral medications can shorten and prevent outbreaks. Daily suppressive therapy can reduce, but not eliminate, risk of transmission to non-infected partners.
Medical students traditionally have been taught that herpes simplex type 1 (HSV-1) infections most often take place above the waist, while herpes simplex type 2 (HSV-2) predominates below the belt. More recent evidence, however, suggests that HSV-1 also is an important pathogen in genital herpes infections, especially in younger women. HSV-1 is more commonly known to cause infections of the mouth and lips, often called fever blisters or cold sores. Viral shedding and disease transmission is possible even in the absence of a visible outbreak.
"Receptive oral sex and vaginal intercourse were found to be significant risk factors for the acquisition of HSV-1," said Thomas Cherpes, M.D., an infectious diseases fellow at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and the study's first author. "Because oral HSV-1 infections are less frequent in childhood and adolescence, future prevention strategies will need to consider increased susceptibility for HSV-1 among young adults, and the important contribution of HSV-1 to the growing genital herpes epidemic."

Medicinal properties of Black Musli
Black musli (Curculigo orchioides) is a herb that belongs to the family Hypoxidaceae. It is a native of temperate regions such as Chota-Nagapur plateau and Deccan plateau in India.
The medicinal properties of this herb are elucidated in several texts of ayurveda. It is also a major ingredient of several medicinal preparations in the Unani system of medicine. The ancient inhabitants of China were well aware of the medicinal properties of Black Musli and extensively used it in herbal preparations. The rhizome of this plant is utilized extensively for medicinal purposes.
Ayurveda describes the medicinal properties of black musli as follows:
Mushali madhuraa vrishyaa veeryoshna brimhanee guruhu
Tiktaa rasaayanee hanthi gudajanya anilam tatha ||
According to Ayurveda , Black Musli is bitter-sweet to taste with a peculiarly sweet after-taste that remains even after digestion. The tuber is heavy to digest and has the property of ‘stickiness’ (snighdha, picchila). Owing to these properties, Black Musli increases kapha and reduces vata and pitta..
The Ayurveda preparations of this herb are used in the treatment of several health conditions. The major uses can be classified as follows:-
In Respiratory Problems : Black Musli is used along with other herbs to treat bronchitis, chronic cough and asthma.
In Digestive Problems: Black Musli is effective in the treatment of hepatitis. It rejuvenates the liver and normalizes its function. It acts as a good appetite- stimulant and stabilizes digestion. The preparations of this herb are useful in treating piles and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
In Reproductive Problems: Ayurveda also elaborates upon this herb’s aphrodisiac properties. Black Musli preparations are widely used in treating erectile dysfunction, low libido, low sperm count and low sperm motility. Ayurvedic texts immensely praise its properties of enhancing quality and quantity of semen.
In Urinary problems: Black Musli acts as diuretic and boosts the resistance of urinary system against infections.
In Skin Problems: The tuber of Black Musli is ground into paste and applied externally as an effective cure for several skin diseases.
In addition to such specific medicinal uses, Black Musli is also used as a general systemic health enhancer (rasayana). It strengthens the body and boosts immunity levels. Contemporary research has resulted in the discovery of new medicinal properties of Black Musli. The most noteworthy of these are:
• It is effective in prevention of post menopausal osteoporosis.
• It is a very good anti-oxidant.
• Its rhizomes have antibacterial properties.
In the light of the above facts, it is evident that the Black Musli is a herb that must be protected and preserved for medicinal use. But it is also a fact that this precious herb is facing imminent threat of extinction due to over-grazing by livestock and unsustainable rates of exploitation by over-zealous pharmacists. Thus, the need of the hour is comprehensive training and education in sustainable means of farming and preserving this priceless gem of the plant kingdom.

Possible Symptoms Of Prostate Problems
Much like women going to menopause, many fear aging and the associated prostate problems that come along with it. Some of the more common symptoms of prostate problems included erectile difficulties, erectile dysfunction, and a low libido.
Symptoms of prostate problems not only encompass sexual dysfunctions and low libido is, they also include painful and difficult urination. An important in startling fact is that prostate problems do not only affect old men, rather they can affect any man.
While most people consider symptoms of prostate problems been only related to prostate cancer there is actually a relatively small percentage of prostate problems related to cancer. Below are various prostate problems, and there associated symptoms.
Prostateism is a little known about disease that is often mistakenly believed to be a sexually transmitted disease. Prostateism is not a sexually transmitted disease, and carries no risk of being contracted by a sexual partner. In fact prostateism is bacterial disease often caused by an obstruction of the urethra or leading to increased bacterial levels.
These obstructions can come from many sources, some of the more common ones are bacterial penetration from chlamydia, bladder infections, and careless use of a catheter. Some symptoms of prostate problems, specifically Prostateism include lower back pain, fever, chills, pain in the genital area, painful urination, urgent urination, and penile discharges.
Benign prosthetic hyperplasia, BPH, is a prostate problem most common among older males. BPH results in the enlargement of the prostate, with it alternately pressing up against the urethra and bladder. The symptoms of prostate problems in this case specifically BPH include a high frequency of urination, problems beginning urination, inability to pass large amounts of urine. BPH also leads to erectile dysfunction; however modern medicine is still unable to understand why. Those affected with BPH tend to have low libidos, and erectile dysfunction. Prostate cancer is best defined as cancerous growths growing within or on the prostate. Prostate cancer becomes quite deadly because it manifests itself with a wide range of symptoms of prostate problems. That is to say without regular checkups prostate cancer can have the same symptoms of prostate problems such as BPH or Prostateism.
For this reason it is highly important, in fact imperative, that all males above a certain age receive annual prostate exams. The best course of action is to discuss this with your physician to find out when you should start receiving your prostate exam, and if there are any lifestyle changes that you should make to help maintain a healthy prostate. These can include leafy greens, and specific multivitamins that are targeted towards prostate health.
